Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using CalcTrail, you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our service.

CalcTrail is not intended for children under 13 years of age. By using the service, you represent that you are at least 13 years old.

Quick Summary

Personal Use: CalcTrail is provided for personal, non-commercial use unless explicitly agreed otherwise.
Service Reliability:The platform is provided "as is" without guarantees of uninterrupted service or perfect accuracy.
Analytics & Search: Google Analytics only runs if you accept it via the cookie banner or Cookie Preferences; a separate cookieless tool (Ahrefs Web Analytics) runs for all visitors and only sees page views and a short list of coarse events. Search tracking can be disabled in Settings.
Your Data: You retain ownership of your data; we process it only to provide the service and features you use.
Account Responsibility: You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and activity.

Use License

We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive license to use CalcTrail for personal, non-commercial purposes. This is a license to use the service, not a transfer of ownership, and under this license you may not:

Copy, modify, or redistribute the platform or its content without permission
Use the platform for any commercial purpose without a separate agreement
Attempt to reverse engineer any software contained in CalcTrail
Remove any copyright or other proprietary notices from the materials
Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or bulk-download content beyond what standard search engines do

User Accounts

When you create an account with us, you must provide accurate, complete, and current information. You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

Data Collection and Analytics

CalcTrail uses Google Analytics to understand how the platform is used and to guide improvements. Analytics does not run by default — Google Analytics only loads and begins tracking after you choose "Accept" on the cookie banner or in Cookie Preferences. If you choose "Deny" or make no choice, Google Analytics is never loaded and nothing is sent.

Separately, CalcTrail uses Ahrefs Web Analytics, a cookieless analytics tool that runs for every visitor regardless of the cookie banner choice above — it sets no cookies and assigns no persistent identifier, so there is nothing for that choice to turn off. It only ever sees page views and a short list of coarse, non-identifying events (for example, that a search happened or a calculator was opened) — never your calculation values, account details, or search text. What this means:

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4), only once you accept, to understand how you use CalcTrail
We use Ahrefs Web Analytics, cookielessly and without consent, for basic traffic counting that is not affected by the analytics cookie choice
We track anonymized usage patterns (page views, calculator usage, feature interactions)
We do NOT track personal information, calculation values, or identifiable data
All data is anonymized and used solely to improve the service
Tracking only occurs on calctrail.com, never in development environments

Search Query Storage

When you use Global Search, we store your search queries to improve search functionality and provide personalized suggestions:

Guest Users: Search queries are stored locally in your browser (localStorage) and never sent to our servers
Logged-In Users: Search queries are stored in our secure database and synced across your devices
Purpose: Search queries are used solely to improve search functionality and personalize your experience
Control: You can disable search tracking in Settings → Search Settings at any time
Deletion: You can request deletion of your search history at any time

Your choices: The cookie banner and Cookie Preferences control Google Analytics only — accepting or declining there does not affect Ahrefs Web Analytics, which is cookieless by design and has no on/off toggle. Every feature of the app works normally regardless of any of these choices. Search query storage can be turned off separately in Settings at any time.

Prohibited Uses

You may not use CalcTrail:

In any way that violates any applicable law or regulation
To transmit any malicious code or viruses
To attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
To interfere with or disrupt the service or servers

Disclaimer

The calculations provided by CalcTrail are for informational purposes only. While we strive for accuracy, we make no warranties, expressed or implied, and hereby disclaim all warranties regarding the accuracy, reliability, or suitability of the calculations for any particular purpose.

Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your account and access to the service immediately, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms of Service or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties.

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves or as legal requirements change. When we make material changes, we will:

Post the updated terms on this page
Update the "Last Updated" date below
Display a notice on the website for major updates

We encourage you to review this page periodically to stay informed of the current terms.

Your continued use of CalcTrail after such modifications constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you should stop using the service and may delete your account.

Intellectual Property

The CalcTrail platform, including its design, functionality, code, and content, is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You acknowledge that:

All rights, title, and interest in CalcTrail remain with us
You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without permission
Your use of CalcTrail does not grant you any ownership rights
You retain ownership of any data you create or upload to CalcTrail

User Content and Data

You are solely responsible for the content and data you create, upload, or store in CalcTrail:

You retain all rights to your data and content
You grant us a license to store, process, and display your data to provide the service
You warrant that your content does not violate any laws or third-party rights
You are responsible for backing up your data (we provide export tools for this purpose)

Service Availability and Modifications

We strive to provide reliable service, but:

We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service
We may perform maintenance that temporarily affects availability
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time
We will provide reasonable notice for significant changes when possible

Third-Party Links and Services

CalcTrail may contain links to third-party websites, products, or services that are not owned or controlled by us. This includes external resources referenced from calculators, guides, and other content:

We do not endorse and are not responsible for the content, accuracy, pricing, availability, or practices of any third-party website or service
Following a link to a third-party site is at your own discretion; their own terms and privacy policies apply once you leave CalcTrail
Any purchase, subscription, or transaction you make with a third party is solely between you and that third party
Where we have a commercial relationship with a linked third party, we will disclose it as required by applicable law

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

CalcTrail is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind
We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose
We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the past 12 months (or $0 if you're using the free tier)
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless CalcTrail and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the service, violation of these terms, or infringement of any rights of another party.

Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where CalcTrail operates, without regard to conflict of law principles. For disputes:

We encourage resolving disputes through direct communication first
If a dispute cannot be resolved, it will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the appropriate courts
You waive any right to participate in a class-action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and CalcTrail regarding the use of the service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
