Yes. Cross-device sync needs an account so your data can follow you. Without one, everything still saves — just locally, in that browser.
Your workspaces, history, variables, and settings are stored in this browser and are not sent to our servers. The one exception is an expiring share link: creating one sends that snapshot to us so the link can work. (A link that carries the calculation in its own address sends us nothing.) You can back everything up to a JSON file at any time from Settings → Plan & Data.

A free account includes 10 workspaces, 100 history entries per workspace, and 100 custom variables — up from 5, 50, and 25 for guests.
Yes, from Settings → Plan & Data → Danger Zone. Reset all data deletes your workspaces, tabs, history, variables and settings on every device and keeps the account, its plan and its share links. Delete account removes the account and everything in it at once; only our database backups keep a copy, until they are 90 days old. Both list what goes and offer a backup file first.
